One morning last week, the officers at the Odessa Police department in Texas received an unexpected visitor – a polite doggo who gently put his paws onto the front desk to let them know about his issue. It appeared that there was a dog missing.

Sergeant Rusty Martin was among the officers who received Chico and said the dog didn’t seem distressed about his lost status at all. It was as if he just went out for a stroll through the neighborhood and decided to pay the kind officers a visit to brighten up their day.

The officers made sure to make his day at least a little bit better in return.
They said he received “lots of love and attention”.

“We were all excited to have him in the building,” Martin added. “We had a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a bit. Everyone loved him.”

When playtime was over, it was time to make sure Chico would return to his owners.
But that wasn’t as easy as it may sound since the ID tag had fallen off from his collar. Therefore, animal control was dispatched to check for a microchip.

However, Chico felt like his time at the PD was done and quickly snuck out before animal control arrived. Luckily, he headed straight back to his family who reported him back the next day.”He ran out just as quick as he came in,”.

“The owner responded the next day [to say that] it was his dog and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station.”
