A column of military vehicles crossed the heart of Bergamo last night, from the monumental cemetery to the highway.

In the trucks lay the coffins of the city’s Coronavirus victims. The Bergamo cemetery can no longer cope with the number of cremations that the Covid-19 imposes.
The 70 coffins, placed on about 30 army trucks, were directed to a dozen crematoriums throughout Italy. On 18 March Italy reported the highest one-day death toll of any country affected by the Covid-19 pandemic: 475 deaths.
