Italy’s death toll from the Coronavirus pandemic has reached 3,405, a number which surpasses the 3,245 fatalities recorded in China.

There was an increase of 427 deaths since yesterday, according to data announced by Italy’s civil protection chief on 19 March, as reported by Italian news agency ANSA.
The number of fatalities announced today was lower however than the record high of 475  yesterday – the world’s highest daily deaths on Covid-19 pandemic.
There are currently 2,498 patients in intensive care in Italy, 241 more than yesterday. Of these 1,006 are in Lombardy, the region worst affected by the crisis.

The total number of confirmed cases in Italy has risen to 41,035. This figure includes the deceased as well as 4,440 patients who have recovered.
