Cuban health authorities announced that the country will send 52 health professionals to Lombardy, to help contain the new coronavirus pandemic.

The 52 doctors and nurses have experience in caring for these types of diseases. In 2014, they traveled to Sierra Leone in West Africa to fight the Ebola virus.
The health counselor announced that the European country “requested medical support from Cuba given the shortage of health personnel in Italian hospitals.”.
Gallera’s request reached the competent authorities of the Caribbean island through the Cuban ambassador in Italy, Jose Rodriguez. The Cuban doctors will join the professionals from China who arrived this Thursday in Milan.

Italy has recorded more than 3,000 deaths from the spread of the disease, surpassing China as the country with the most deaths.
