A pregnant woman who contracted coronavirus passed away during labor even as her baby survived. The tragic case was reported from the Whittington Hospital, in London where the woman had been admitted some days ago.

The hospital is trying to ascertain if the virus is the cause of the woman’s death or if she had other health conditions that led to her demise.
Family members of the deceased mother have been left ‘devastated’.  A source from the hospital said, “Amid all the trauma being seen across maxed-out hospital wards by our NHS heroes, this tragedy has totally poleaxed staff. There is a huge sense of disbelief at the unfairness of this devastating death.”
Last month, we had reported about a case of newborn baby in the UK becoming the youngest person in the country to test positive barely a few hours after being born. The child’s mother was rushed to a hospital for pneumonia before giving birth.
