Italy has ordered the closure of all schools in the northern regions of Lombardy (which includes Milan), Veneto and Piemonte, as the number of people to test positive for the Coronavirus in Italy jumps to 132.

There are 88 cases reported in Lombardy (including the woman who died yesterday) and 24 cases in the neighboring Veneto region, counting the 78-year-old man who died from complications arising from the Coronavirus. In addition, there are cases reported in the northern Piemonte region (6), the north-east region Emilia Romagna (9), and two in the central Lazio region.
Venice has canceled its annual Carnevale celebrations as well as closing its museums, while universities in Trieste have suspended all activity until 1 March.

Italy has also canceled three Serie A football games on 23 February: Inter-Milan and Sampdoria, Atalanta and Sassuolo, and Cagliari against Hellas Verona.

There are more than 50,000 people in quarantine in 11 north Italian towns, including Codogno where the Coronavirus outbreak began earlier this week.
